As per the latest trends in the Karnataka Election 2018, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading only in 104 seats which doesn’t account for an absolute majority, while the Indian National Congress (INC) is ahead in 78 seats. The Janata Dal (Secular) is at third place with 37 seats. Karnataka Governor Valubhai Vala has granted appointments to both BJP and the Congress-JDS combo. Former Karnataka Chief Minister Kumaraswamy of JD(S) had written a letter to the Governor saying that his party has accepted the support from INC. The INC has taken a position such that if the Governor is not willing to invite the Congress-JDS combo to form government then they would move the court.
Congress-JDS Combo to Form Government
INC approached JD(S) and offered to make HD Kumaraswamy the CM of Karnataka. The Congress-JDS combo has secured enough seats in total in order to form the new government. Regardless of being the single largest party, BJP failed to achieve absolute majority and hence is not in a position to form a new government on its own. It is no doubt that the surprising move from JD(S) left BJP in trouble in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018.
We have spoken to HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy and they have agreed. Hopefully we will meet the governor later in the evening. As trends show now, Congress and JD(S) allies together are more than the halfway mark.

Reports indicate that the BJP on the edge of losing the majority mark, will try everything it can to get in touch with rebel leaders from both the INC and the JD(S) for their support.
I will look at all possibilities. A lot of people have blessed us with their votes. I do not want to discuss about the JD(S) and the Congress. I will consult all-Indian leaders and make the decision accordingly.
